 New Delhi:Â
Amid the political storm brought on by Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent and Kumal Kamra’s comedy special Naya Bharat, there are still a few who have continued to stand by their favourite comedians.
Although it seems like the entire county is against comedy as an art form in recent times, the love for the art form still remains intact among the younger audience.
Sahil Shah speaks about comedy and controversy
While speaking to PTI at the Mumbai Comic-Con, comedian Sahil Shah spoke about how comedy is an art form, not a threat to national security.
He added, “Eventually there will come a time when I think if people are watching us and love what we do, they would also be there for us when we are down.”Â
He brings up the fact that comics are, at the end of the day, supporting each other. Further, he speaks about how the entire industry is attacked at the expense of one. “It’s a matter of what you can and cannot say. It’s a matter of conversation, freedom, boundaries, speech, and a lot of things. In that sense, we have to stand by each other,” he stated.
When asked if he stays away from controversial topics, Sahil Shah replied that his content is based on the current phase of his life. He explained that he is at a stage where his comedy revolves around him and the problems he faces. So, unless someone has a problem with him, people have not found his content to be controversial.
On the work front, Sahil Shah is all set to release his second stand-up special called Broken on his YouTube channel on April 16, 2025.
Millions question why trivial topics such as a joke are being blown out of proportion while the real crimes are barely being reported on. As the younger generation pushes back against the stigma against political comedy, comedian Shail Shah spoke about the upheaval the comedy industry has been going through recently.
