Bloodlines gets mixed reactions after its long-awaited

Final Destination: Bloodlines has made its eerie return to Indian cinemas after 14 years, receiving a flurry of mixed reactions. While some fans praised its nostalgic gore and emotional moments, others criticised its CGI and lack of memorable death scenes.

New Delhi:

Widely regarded as a nostalgic horror relic for millennials and boomers alike, the Final Destination series has long been synonymous with gruesome, Rube Goldberg-esque death sequences that left an indelible psychological imprint, particularly the infamous log truck scene. With Bloodlines, those haunting memories have been deliberately reawakened.

After a 14-year hiatus, Final Destination: Bloodlines was released in India on May 16. And it is needless to say that the film has reignited its cult following that had once been gripped by the franchise’s signature fatalism and macabre thrills. Directed by Zach Lipovsky and featuring the return of Tony Todd, the sixth instalment in the enduring horror saga has been met with both reverence and reservation by audiences.

Final Destination X reviews

The film was even declared by some as the series’ best entry to date. “The best Final Destination movie surpassing all others. For now the best movie that came out this year. Cameos of previous final destination parts + New Deaths + Story + Characters. I don’t want this series to end please not be the last,” another post read.

Social media, particularly X (formerly Twitter), has been flooded with first reactions from early viewers. Praise has been heaped on the film for embracing the franchise’s gory roots while weaving in new layers of dark humour. One viewer enthused, “#FinalDestinationBloodlines absolutely slaps. Killer (and I mean killer) humor, gloriously bloody deaths, unlocked new irrational fears — drove home like Death was in the passenger seat. That’s cinema.”

Another fan celebrated its homage to earlier films, writing, “gorey, brutal, cinematographically amazing with a lot of easter eggs from the previous movies. a beautiful tribute to the franchise.”

Yet, the praise has not been universal. Several viewers were left disillusioned by what they deemed subpar visual effects and uninspired kills. “#FinalDestinationBloodlines is filled with awful CGI and barely uses practical effects. There is not one memorable kill in the entire film. The story is ok but ultimately falls flat. Big disappointment for me. #FinalDestination,” one comment noted.

However, others found a bittersweet charm in the film’s narrative closure. “I was quite satisfied w/ #FinalDestinationBloodlines. It had a unique concept, and I enjoyed the opening disaster, it was a big action-packed spectacle. The film had some gnarly kills and the cast did a Great job. Tony Todd received an emotional farewell that brought me to tears!” a user shared.
