Bengaluru metro Yellow Line set to ease traffic woes between R V Road

With the third batch of metro coaches scheduled to arrive by mid-May, this new addition is set to transform the daily commute for those travelling to and from Electronics City. Located just six kilometres from Bommasandra, Electronics City is home to major technology firms such as Infosys, Wipro, and HCL, making it a vital business district.
Bengaluru residents are eagerly awaiting the launch of the Namma Metro Yellow Line, a new route that will connect R V Road to Bommasandra, promising to alleviate daily traffic woes for thousands of commuters. Expected to open shortly, the Yellow Line will provide an essential link to Electronics City, one of the city’s largest IT and industrial hubs.
However, the influx of employees has led to severe congestion, particularly along Hosur Road and the elevated expressway, highlighting the urgent need for a more efficient public transport system.
Improved connectivity & reduced commute times with Yellow Line
Bengaluru’s notorious traffic jams are a familiar sight for many, with countless reports of commuters spending hours stuck in gridlocks.
At present, commuters face long and often stressful journeys from central Bengaluru to Electronics City, with travel times during peak hours stretching from 90 minutes to two hours by road. But once the Yellow Line becomes operational, these journey times are expected to be reduced by half, offering a quicker and more reliable alternative to sitting in traffic.
Yellow Line to provide significant relief to frustrated commuters
The Yellow Line is expected to provide significant relief for these frustrated commuters. According to the latest updates from the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL), the third set of coaches for the Yellow Line is expected to arrive in Bengaluru by mid-May. These coaches are being delivered by Titagarh Rail Systems, with the first batch having already shipped from West Bengal on April 29. The remaining coaches are expected to arrive in the city by May 2, with all six sets scheduled for delivery by May 15.
These new trains are part of India’s ‘Made in India’ driverless fleet, with the first units having already been delivered in January 2025. The BMRCL plans to ramp up production, with two train sets set to be delivered each month by September 2025.
