BTS’ Kim Taehyung, aka V, received a as he was warmly welcome back by his close-knit circle of celebrity friends, the Wooga Squad, shortly after completing his mandatory military service. The reunion took place before BTS’s much-anticipated group comeback.

Wooga Squad reunites to celebrate V’s military discharge

The photos, accompanied by the caption “King is back,” captured the group recreating their beloved 2023 photograph, originally taken just before V had enlisted. This time, however, custom T-shirts bearing the word “Welcome” in Korean were donned by each member. The gesture was reposted by V with a simple but heartfelt “Thank you.”

The Wooga Squad, consisting of Park Seo-Joon, Choi Woo-Shik, Park Hyung-Sik, rapper Peakboy, and V himself, has remained a symbol of unshakable friendship in the South Korean entertainment world. Their reunion, despite each member’s demanding schedule, was lauded by fans who were touched by the group’s effort to make time for V’s return.

A day after his discharge, V offered fans an emotional glimpse into his life in uniform. A carousel of 20 images was uploaded on Instagram, captioned, “Love me tete,” which documented his military journey, from candid gym sessions to routine barracks life. Among the collection, a snapshot with fellow actor Song Kang, who trained alongside him at the same military base, drew attention. Their camaraderie and shared transformation, particularly their bulked-up physiques, offered a rare window into V’s time away from the limelight.

In addition to the photos, a video of V playing baseball during training was also shared, further endearing him to fans who have long awaited his return. His consistent updates over the past months, coupled with his visibly matured appearance, sparked admiration and curiosity among ARMYs.

BTS military discharge

V was discharged on June 10 alongside fellow BTS leader RM. The pair joined Jin and J-Hope, who completed their service earlier this year. With Jungkook and Jimin also discharged by June 11, the group now awaits the return of its final member, SUGA, on June 21.
