BCCI announces schedule for India vs New Zealand limited-overs series ahead of T20 World Cup 2026

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the schedule for the limited-overs series against New Zealand. The Kiwis are set to play three ODIs and five T20Is against India, starting from January 11, 2026.

BCCI forms committee to formulate guidelines for victory celebrations
The BCCI’s Apex Council has decided to constitute a committee to formulate comprehensive guidelines for victory celebrations of IPL franchises, after the stampede incident at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The committee will comprise Devajit Saikia (Chairperson), Prabhtej Singh Bhatia and Rajeev Shukla and will formulate the guidelines within 15 days.
BCCI Domestic Season 2025–26
The 2025–26 domestic season will start with the Duleep Trophy (August 28, 2025) and end with the Senior Women’s Inter-Zonal Multi-Day Trophy (April 3, 2026). Six zonal teams will participate in the Duleep Trophy and Senior Women’s Challenger tournaments, which will be selected by zonal selectors.
A Super League stage will be included in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and the Senior Women’s T20 Trophy instead of a traditional knockout. Tournaments such as the Senior Women’s One Day Trophy, Men’s U23 State A Trophy and Vijay Hazare Trophy will follow a 4 Elite Groups + 1 Plate Group model, while most junior and women’s tournaments (U16, U19, U23) have moved to a 5 Elite + 1 Plate group structure.
India’s home international calendar will begin with the two-match Test series against the West Indies in October and will be followed by a full-fledged series against the reigning WTC champions South Africa, consisting two Tests in Kolkata and Guwahati, three ODI matches in Ranchi, Raipur and Vizag followed by four T20I games in Cuttack, New Chandigarh, Dharamsala and Lucknow in November-December.
The Men in Blue will also tour Australia for three ODI games and five T20Is, starting from October 19 to November 8. Baroda, Rajkot, Indore, Nagpur, Raipur, Guwahati, Vizag and Trivandrum will host the eight white-ball matches against New Zealand.
The white-ball games against New Zealand in January will be followed by the 2026 T20 World Cup, which is set to begin in February-March in India and Sri Lanka. The 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled shortly after the ICC event.
