Sabalena produced a commanding display at the Court Suzanne Lenglen on Wednesday to oust Teichmann and enter the third round at Roland Garros. The world no.1 didn’t get off to a perfect start as she was troubled by Teichmann at the start of the game. However, she used her experience and kept her composure to overcome the Swiss comfortably in the end.

The world no.1, who has never made it past the semi-finals at the French Open, reached her sixth consecutive third round at Roland Garros and will be hoping to continue her strong show in the next round. Sabalenka is set to take on Olga Danilovic in the third round after the Serbian defeated Danielle Collins in her second-round clash on Wednesday.

Aryna Sabalenka trounced Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann in straight sets to storm into the third round of women’s singles at the French Open 2025 on Wednesday. The world no.1 defeated the Swiss player 6-3, 6-1 in their second-round clash to continue her bid for her maiden French Open title. Sabalenka registered her second win against Teichmann, having defeated her in their first meeting at the Doha Open in Qatar in 2022.

Sabalenka, who is aiming to reach her maiden French Open final in Paris this year, surprisingly conceded an early break to go 1-3 down in the first set. However, she bounced back quickly to close the first 6-3. The Belarusian top seed raced to a 4-0 lead in the second and outpowered her Swiss opponent to clinch the set 6-1, wrapping up a dominant victory.

Sabalenka eyeing 3rd Grand Slam in Paris

Sabalenka, who lost to Madison Keys in the Australian Open 2025 final earlier this year, is bidding to win her third Grand Slam title in Paris. The world no.1 dominated the proceedings against Teichmann in the second round on Wednesday as she doled out two aces and converted 5 out of her 8 break points in the match. She also enjoyed a 72% win rate on her first serve and bagged 34 winners despite making some unforced errors.

Following her victory against Teichmann, Sabalenka extended her win-loss record to 18-7 at the French Open. The world no.1 has bagged 31 straight-set victories this season, which is the most by aney female player.
