Apple is changing its strategy for gaming with this decision. It is expected that the new app will take over from Game Centre and will debut when iOS 19 is announced at WWDC 2025 on June 9. The gaming app is one of Appleâs steps into the gaming market after acquiring RAC7 Games, the makers of Sneaky Sasquatch.
Apple has plans to offer a separate gaming app for its iPhone, iPad, Mac and Apple TV later this year. It is expected that the app will come standard on all compatible devices and be a main centre for gaming. As Mark Gurman from Bloomberg reported, the app will enable users to check their awards, look at rankings, read editorials and control their games in one location.
Game Centre replacement and Apple Arcade promotion
Apple is planning to have App Tracking Transparency take over Game Centre with tighter gaming service integration and added features. Apple Arcade will be promoted here, showcasing its exclusive games and latest releases. The goal of this connection is to let users play more easily and manage games more cleanly across Apple devices.
Apple is now serious about gaming, as Death Stranding, Resident Evil Village and Assassinâs Creed Mirage have been added to its platform. The app may launch at the same time as the new iPhone models in September.
Features and interface
FaceTime and iMessage are being tested for use inside the game so that players can communicate better. App Clips are also expected to be included, which means developers can now give users a preview of their games. Mac users can see games downloaded outside the App Store thanks to the Mac version of the app, making the experience more open.
The app will offer a âPlay Nowâ section that includes articles and game recommendations. Users are able to use their game library, organise their friends and take part in in-game challenges. Users will be able to see both App Store and Apple Arcade games, as well as quickly find updates and participate in special gaming events.
