Apple has announced that the upcoming Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) will happen from June 9 to June 13, 2025. Tim Cook, CEO of Apple, will open the event at 10:00 a.m. Pacific Time (10:30 p.m. IST). The keynote will introduce new software, including iOS 19, iPadOS 19, macOS 16, watchOS 12, tvOS 19 and visionOS 3. Siri is rumoured to get some improvements in Apple’s latest update.
How to watch WWDC 2025
Apple will also offer an in-person event at their headquarters, Apple Park, on June 9. A number of developers and students have been selected to attend the live sessions, meet the engineers and experience the keynote in person.
All keynote and developer sessions will be available to stream online through Apple. People can watch the event live through Apple’s Events Page, on YouTube, in the Apple Developer app and on Apple TV. Since 2020, WWDC has been available online for free to developers everywhere.
Software updates to expect
iOS 19 and iPadOS 19
iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 will have a new design that is influenced by the look of visionOS. There will be new icons, menus and buttons, along with a round navigation bar for accessing apps. The company is adding AI-powered features such as improved battery control and a new health app that includes nutrition tracking. Siri users could also choose to use Google Gemini instead of ChatGPT.
macOS 16
macOS 16 may take on the new design from iOS 19, offering new icons, menus and apps to match the look found on iOS. It’s expected that Apple will pick a California landmark as the name, like Condor, Diablo or Redwood. There is no information yet about specific features.
Apple intelligence enhancements
Apple may add new features to Apple Intelligence, including a smarter way to save battery and a virtual health guide. There may be few updates for Siri, as the main focus is on advancing AI on all Apple platforms.
watchOS 12
The new watchOS 12 may take design cues from visionOS, with translucent features and round buttons. Although it won’t get a complete redesign, Apple Watch users may see new features that use Apple Intelligence and are made to fit the device’s small memory.
tvOS 19 and visionOS 3
tvOS 19 and visionOS 3 are also expected to get updates that will focus on improving performance and making small changes to the design. The specifics are not yet clear, but both are anticipated to fit into Apple’s wider updates.
Possible hardware announcements
Hardware-related rumours are not available, but Apple has introduced Macs at past WWDC events. It’s very likely that a new Mac Pro may be unveiled, as the MacBook Pro won’t get an update until much later this year.
Apple provides 100 online events for developers to engage with engineers and one-on-one labs. The Apple Developer Forums are available for further help. People invited to the event at Apple Park will be able to watch the keynote, meet Apple employees and check out new tools for making apps.
