Apple Pay arrives on PS5: Here’s how to use it for game purchases
PS5 now finally supports the option of Apple Pay to make payments for your several game purchases. Here is everything that you need to know.
Apple Pay on PS5: How it works
This method is based on the system Apple introduced with iOS 18 and iPadOS 18, which also made it possible to use Apple Pay with browsers like Chrome.
As per a report by 9to5Mac, using Apple Pay on the PS5 is simple, but it’s a little different from the usual one-click purchase experience. When you’re at the checkout screen in the PlayStation Store on your PS5, you’ll now see an option to pay with Apple Pay. Selecting it will bring up a unique QR-style code on your TV screen.
Next, grab your iPhone or iPad and scan the code. This will trigger the Apple Pay checkout screen on your device, where you can pick your preferred card and complete the payment using Face ID or Touch ID. Once that’s done, your purchase will be confirmed on the console.
Why Use Apple Pay on PS5?
While it might take a few more steps than using a saved credit card or PayPal on your PlayStation account, Apple Pay brings its own benefits, especially for Apple Card users. If you use your Apple Card to make purchases on the PS5, you’ll get 2% Daily Cash back, just like with any other Apple Pay transaction.
This update also makes checkout a bit more secure, since the transaction is completed through your iPhone or iPad, keeping your card details off the console itself.
