Following the tragic crash of Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner shortly after takeoff, which claimed 242 lives, several Indian celebrities reacted to the unfortunate incident. Now, superstar Shah Rukh Khan expressed his grief as he is “absolutely heartbroken”.

Rana Naidu director Suparn Varma said in a statement, “It’s horrific! I have been numb ever since the news. Just praying for the families. It’s beyond heartbreaking.”

After the incident, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a statement, “The tragedy in Ahmedabad has stunned and saddened us. It is heartbreaking beyond words. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with everyone affected by it. Have been in touch with Ministers and authorities who are working to assist those affected.”

According to reports, moments after the takeoff, the pilot issued a mayday call. However, there was no further communication between the cockpit and air traffic controllers. Out of 232 passengers, 196 were Indian, 53 were British nationals, one Canadian national and 7 Portuguese nationals.

Jackson Wang, who is currently in India, posted on his Instagram Stories, “It’s heartbreaking to hear what happened today in Ahmedabad. My prayers to all families and to everyone affected. With many unfortunate incidents happening every day around us, please take good care of ourselves every day, every moment.”

Other celebs who reacted to the tragic plane crash include Alia Bhatt, Akshay Kumar, Allu Arjun, Jr NTR, Sunny Deol, Abhishek Bachchan, and Janhvi Kapoor, among others. Aamir Khan’s production house shared on Instagram Stories, “We are deeply saddened by the tragic plane crash that occurred today.

At this moment of profound loss, our thoughts and condolences are with the families of those affected. We stand in solidarity with the individuals, communities and responders impacted by this devastating event. Stay strong India.”

The aircraft was carrying 232 passengers and 20 crew members. The crash occurred between 1 pm and 2 pm IST, after the aircraft reportedly lost altitude soon after takeoff. According to initial reports, the plane had reached approximately 825 feet when it suddenly descended. The plane struck a hostel for doctors, killing five students and injuring several others.

Taking to X, Shah Rukh Khan expressed his grief and wrote, “Absolutely heartbroken with the news about the crash in Ahmedabad. My prayers for the victims, their families and all affected.”

Actress Anushka Sharma also reacted to the tragic plane crash in Ahmedabad and wrote on Instagram Stories, “Saddened to hear about the plane crash today. Thoughts and prayers with the passengers and their families.
