Aditya Chopra to reboot YRF Spy universe after Indo-Pak flare-up
Following the India-Pakistan standoff, Aditya Chopra has ordered a creative overhaul of the YRF Spy Universe. Pathaan 2 and War 2 will now undergo major rewrites, shifting from diplomatic plots to more nationalistic storylines reflecting the current geopolitical climate.
New Delhi:
The decision was reportedly prompted by the violent standoff that erupted between the two nations following the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack, which claimed 27 lives and escalated into a series of skirmishes and diplomatic expulsions. In the aftermath, Aditya Chopraâs attention has been drawn to the sensitive portrayal of the fictional camaraderie between Indiaâs RAW agents and Pakistanâs ISI operatives â a recurring motif in the Tiger and Pathaan films.
A significant overhaul of the YRF Spy Universe has been set in motion by Aditya Chopra, as the worsening diplomatic and military tensions between India and Pakistan continue to reshape. According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, the upcoming instalments Pathaan 2 and War 2 have been sent into a rewriting phase with an increased emphasis on nationalist themes.
YRFâs Spyverse to undergo rewriting
The foundational plot of Pathaan 2 had previously been locked by Aditya. However, it has now been placed under revision. Similar treatment is expected for War 2 and the upcoming Alpha, where scenes portraying Pakistan as an ally are being reconsidered for redubbing and re-editing.
âGiven the current geopolitical climate, the future of the YRF Spy Universe will depict cross-border dynamics with greater realism and caution. The present geopolitical scenario will reflect in a big way in the future timeline of the YRF Spy Universe. The character arcs of Tiger (Salman Khan) and Pathaan (Shah Rukh Khan) will also change their thoughts on the neighbouring nation. Adi is very much in sync with the national sentiments, and has asked his writer, Sridhar Raghavan, to rewrite multiple conflict points,â the source added.
âA common link in the Tiger franchise and Pathaan is the strong connection of RAW with ISI, as the lead protagonists work together with ISI agents for the larger good. While the conflict sounds great on paper, the present scenario between India and Pakistan has forced Adi to relook at the scripts. The inclusion of Zoya (Katrina Kaif) and Rubai (Deepika Padukone) will reduce in the future timelines of the universe,â a trade source told Bollywood Hungama.
