Why Aamir Khan was ‘fired’ from Darr and ‘rejected’ Swades?
Actor Aamir Khan revealed that he was "fired" from Darr, opposite Sunny Deol and rejected Swades. However, Shah Rukh Khan later replaced him in both the movies.
New Delhi:
Two movies of Shah Rukh Khan, Darr and Swades, were first offered to the perfectionist of Bollywood, Aamir Khan. Over the years, both movies have received cult classic status, leaving fans and critics impressed.
But, in a recent interview, actor Aamir Khan revealed that while he was fired from Darr, he rejected Swades.
Why did Aamir Khan reject Swades?
In the same interview, Aamir revealed that the narration for Swades went for three hours and he found it to be very “boring”. He was quoted as saying, “I found it very boring.” He added, “It was a three-hour-long narration. When he asked me how I liked it, I said I want to tell you my first reaction first.
I said, ‘I got bored. It’s very important for you to hear this reaction. What you’re trying to say is very correct, noble, and important, but if you say it in such a boring manner… I got bored, I don’t know about everyone else.'”
The Sitaare Zameen Par was talking about the films he rejected, which later went on to become big hits. The actor opened up about both the movies and revealed why he was fired from Darr and what led him to reject Swades.
Aamir Khan was fired from Darr:
In a chat with Zoom, Aamir Khan revealed that he was fired from Darr, also starring Sunny Deol and Juhi Chawla, because he insisted on Yash Chopra for a joint narration with both heroes, but he refused to do so. The actor said, “Didn’t say no to Darr.
I said yes, but I was fired from the film because I wanted a joint narration. There were two actors, and I have this principle that if there are two actors, then the director should give a joint narration, and Yash ji did not want to do that, so he fired me.”
He also shared that he followed the same principle for Andaz Apna Apna, also starring Salman Khan. However, Salman cancelled the narration thrice, but he was insistent that they should hear the narration together to have clarity about their roles.
