10 militants killed in gunfight with Assam Rifles
Assam Rifles killed at least 10 militants during an operation near New Samtal village in Manipur’s Chandel district on Wednesday. Acting on intelligence inputs, the troops launched a planned operation near the Indo-Myanmar border and recovered arms and ammunition.

The operation took place near New Samtal village, close to the India-Myanmar border, and was launched based on intelligence inputs about the movement of armed militants in the area.
At least 10 militants were killed in an encounter with Assam Rifles in Manipur’s Chandel district on Wednesday, according to Indian Army’s Eastern Command.
Army launches operation
The Assam Rifles team acted on specific information and launched the operation in the Khengjoy Tehsil region of Chandel district. As the troops began cordoning off the area, suspected militants opened fire on them.
The soldiers responded with controlled and strategic firing. In the exchange, 10 militants were neutralized.
Arms, ammunition recovered
According to sources, the operation is still underway, as there is a possibility that more militants may be hiding nearby. So far, there have been no reports of any casualties among the security forces.
The army confirmed the operation through a post on X, stating that the action was “calibrated and measured.” A large quantity of arms and ammunition was recovered from the encounter site. The nature and type of weapons seized have not yet been disclosed.
