 Actor Vikrant Massey has now clarified that the Air India co-pilot, Clive Kunder, who lost his life in the Ahmedabad plane crash on June 12, is not his cousin but a family friend.

The 12th Fail actor had expressed his condolences to the family of Clive Kunder on Thursday, and soon reports started to emerge that Clive was Vikrant’s cousin because he wrote on Instagram Stories, “It pains even more to know that my uncle, Clifford Kunder, lost his son, Clive Kunder.”

Who was Clive Kunder?

Clive Kunder served as the First Officer aboard flight AI171, which was headed to London. He had over 1,100 hours of flying experience and was a part of an experienced cockpit crew along with Captain Sumeet Sabharwal.

The tragic plane crash claimed 265 lives, and one person survived the crash. A video of the passenger went viral on social media, where he was seen walking with a limp and is currently hospitalised.

The speculations over Clive being Vikrant’s cousin circulated after he mourned his death and wrote on social media, “My heart breaks for the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives in the unimaginably tragic air crash in Ahmedabad today. It pains even more to know that my uncle, Clifford Kunder, lost his son, Clive Kunder, who was the first officer operation on that fateful flight.”

On Thursday, the London-bound Air India A1-171 flight, which was carrying 242 people, including 10 crew members, had crashed minutes after takeoff. The plane reached a height of around 825 feet when it suddenly started dropping. There was a mayday call from the pilot before the plane crashed.

Vikrant Massey clarifies:

Taking to Instagram Stories, Vikrant Massey clarified that the Air India co-pilot Clive Kunder wasn’t his relative but a family friend. He wrote, “Dear friends in the media and elsewhere, the unfortunately diseased Mr Clive Kunder was not my cousin. The Kunders are our family friends. Request no more speculations and let the family and loved ones grieve in peace.”
