Tilak Varma climbs to 3rd spot, Hardik Pandya remains no.1 all-rounder

India batter Tilak Varma jumped to the third spot in the latest ICC T20I rankings for batters. Meanwhile, Hardik Pandya retained the top spot in the all-rounder rankings.

Indian batter Tilak Varma jumped to the third spot in the latest ICC T20I rankings, which were released on Wednesday, June 11. Abhishek Sharma retained his second spot in the ranking for batters, while Hardik Pandya remains the no.1 all-rounder in the shortest format.

Indian spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Ravi Bishnoi also retained the third and seventh positions, respectively, in the bowling charts.

Hardik Pandya retains top spot in all-rounder rankings

Team India star Hardik Pandya has retained the top spot in the list of all-rounders. Hardik, who is a vital cog in India’s T20I line-up, scored 112 runs and picked up five wickets in the T20I series against England at home earlier this year. With 252 rating points, Hardik is on the top, followed by Australia’s Marcus Stoinis and Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee.

England spinner Adil Rashid moved to the second spot in the bowling rankings after his strong show in his side’s 3-0 thrashing of West Indies in the recently concluded T20I series. Rashid picked up 4 wickets in three games to take the second spot with 710 points, 13 points behind New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy, who is the no.1 ranked bowler in T20Is.

Tilak featured in all five matches for India in their T20I series against England at home in January-February this year. The left-hander performed consistently and finished with 133 runs in 5 innings, including a stupendous knock of an unbeaten 72 in Chennai. The left-hander now has 804 rating points and is in third spot, behind compatriot Abhishek.

Australia’s Travis Head is the no. 1 ranked batter in T20Is, with his Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opening partner, Abhishek, in the second spot. Meanwhile, India’s T20I skipper Suryakumar Yadav slipped to the sixth spot in the batter rankings. Abhishek, Tilak and Suryakumar are the three Indian batters in the top ten rankings in T20Is.

In the bowling rankings, Chakaravarthy is the highest-ranked Indian at no.3. Bishnoi is in the seventh spot, while left-arm pacer Arshdeep Singh is in the tenth spot. Chakaravarthy was the leading wicket-taker for India in the T20I series against England earlier this year. The mystery spinner picked up an impresisve 14 wickets in just 5 matches in the series.
