SFI, Yuva Morcha activists clash at education minister’s programme venue in Kozhikode
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan has condemned the usage of Bharat Mata portrait at state government events conducted at the Raj Bhavan and have stated that the government cannot allow the office of the Governor to be converted as an 'RSS Shakha'
Kozhikode:
“We will continue to show black flags to the education minister who has been insulting the Bharat Mata and the national symbols. The CPM and the Congress is now trying to appease the minority bank by indulging in communal politics”, said Prakash Babu, BJP Kozhikode district president who had joined the protest against the education minister.
The row over ‘Bharat Mata’ and the showdown that happened in Raj Bhavan recently has spiralled into the streets of Kerala with Yuva Morcha activists staging a protest at the venue where General Education minister Shivan Kutty was present. The protest was stopped by student wing of CPM, the SFI that led to a major altercation between the 2 student groups.
Protesting the incident of SFI workers attacking the Yuva Morcha workers, BJP members burnt the effigy of Minister Shivankutty at the spot. BJP leaders alleged that the police were helping SFI members to attack Yuva Morcha workers.
“Our workers were beaten up by CPM workers and the police. If the police do not arrest the criminals, we will retaliate. The BJP knows what to do if the police do not take necessary action,” said BJP Kozhikode district president KP Prakash Babu.
On Saturday morning, Yuva Morcha workers showed black flags when the minister arrived at the Jubilee Hall in Tali to attend a programme related to the SFI national conference. However, in the meantime, SFI workers who were present there clashed with Yuva Morcha activists. Following this, the police intervened and detained the workers.
The BJP has decided to intensify the protest against the education minister and Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan who has reportedly boycotted the events at Raj Bhavan recently.
