RCB marketing head, three others arrested in Bengaluru stampede case

Bengaluru Police arrested four, including RCB marketing head Nikhil Sosale, after a stampede killed 11 during RCB’s IPL celebration. Two KSCA officials remain absconding. Karnataka suspended five senior police officers, including Bengaluru’s City Police Commissioner.

Among those arrested is Nikhil Sosale, RCB’s head of marketing. The tragedy unfolded outside the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, where thousands of fans had gathered to celebrate RCB’s maiden IPL title — a historic win that came after an 18-year wait.

At least four people, including a senior Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) official, have been arrested by Bengaluru Police after a stampede claimed 11 lives on Wednesday.

Karnataka government suspends five senior police officers

Meanwhile, the Karnataka government on Thursday suspended five senior police officers, including Bengaluru City Police Commissioner B Dayananda, an IPS officer. According to a report by the Times of India, it is the first time in Karnataka’s history that a serving police commissioner has been suspended.

Sosale apprehended from Kempegowda International Airport

According to an NDTV report, Sosale was apprehended from Kempegowda International Airport at around 6.30am. Three others arrested in the case are from the event management company DNA. They have been identified as Sunil Mathew, Kiran and Sumanth.

Two officials of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) are currently absconding. They have been identified as secretary Shankar and treasurer Jayram.
