Mumbai:Â
Actor Manoj Bajpayee reacts to the writer’s claim that Rang De Basanti was a small film with Manoj as Chandrashekhar Azad, who was later replaced by Aamir Khan.
Manoj Bajpayee had acted in Rakyesh Om Prakash Mehra’s first film Aks with Amitabh Bachchan as his co-star, and never worked with him after he was replaced in Rang De Basanti.
But did the actor reach out to the makers of the film after he read it in the media? Manoj Bajpayee said, ” I am a man of self-respect, but what hurt me was that I had worked on the script of the film. The least they could have done is that they could have inform me. ”
How does he look back at a film that turned out to be a landmark film, to which he said, “I only look back at memories of making those films which I was part of and not the films that I didn’t get or I said no to! There is nothing there to look at!”
So, how did Manoj Bajpayee get to know about the replacement, to which he said, “I read about it in the trade papers when the announcement of the film was made. ”
Manoj Bajpayee said, “Ye to sahi hai, but don’t think it was intended to be a small film! It was always a medium budget or more!”
