Lisa’s paycheck for The White Lotus Season 3 sparks outrage

BLACKPINK’s Lisa is making headlines for her jaw-dropping paycheck for The White Lotus Season 3. The reported amount has sparked outrage online, with fans and critics questioning the staggering sum she’s allegedly being paid.

New Delhi:

BLACKPINK’s Lisa has officially made her mark on Hollywood with her much-anticipated acting debut in The White Lotus Season 3. Portraying Mook, a cunning hotelier managing a lavish resort in Thailand, the K-pop idol was seen stepping into a role that, while brief, left a lasting impression.

About White Lotus Season 3:

Regardless of the backlash, Lisa’s appearance generated substantial interest. Despite her brief role, the buzz surrounding her performance, coupled with the paycheck speculation, helped position The White Lotus Season 3 as one of HBO’s most-talked-about series this year. Directed by Mike White, the third season of the Emmy-winning anthology unfolds in a luxury Thai setting and continues its tradition of mixing satire, suspense, and social commentary.

Despite minimal dialogue and limited screen time, her performance has continued to dominate fan discussions, albeit not entirely for her acting chops alone.

However, a controversy stirred when a post by Buzzing Pop on X (formerly Twitter) alleged that Lisa had received 55 million KRW (approximately 40,000 USD) per episode. The revelation sparked a flurry of reactions across social media, with many questioning the justification behind such a sizable cheque for what they considered a cameo appearance.

Critics online didn’t hold back. Some described it as “too much for a cameo, which barely had lines or screen time… other actors deserve better.” Another added that it’s “funny how talentless celebrities are getting paid for doing nothing.” These remarks suggested a sentiment that the payment might have been driven more by star power than merit.

BLINKs have Lisa’s back:

However, Lisa’s supporters were quick to hit back. They argued that the BLACKPINK rapper’s global influence justified the fee, with many pointing out that all principal cast members reportedly received the same remuneration. It was also highlighted that Lisa’s popularity brought additional international visibility to the series, especially in Southeast Asia.

Her fans cited her entrepreneurial ventures and highly successful music career. “She earned more from her solo brand endorsements in a week than this fee,” one fan remarked. Others credited her casting for increasing The White Lotus’s reach among a younger, more global audience.
